You won't believe how easy it is to make homemade butter!! I saw this post over at Wee Waldorf and an hour later (after running to the grocery) we were making our own batch.
It's as easy as 1-2-3!!
Step 1: Buy heavy whipping cream
Step 3: Shake container for 20 minutes.

We went outside and tossed the container back and forth and up into the air. Tia called it "Extreme Buttermaking". :)
Yummmmmmy!!
We added some kosher salt to our butter, but I'm thinking cinnamon, honey or garlic would be delicious, too!
It was divine on the banana bread I made the night before.

ReplyDeleteWe do this at Thanksgiving. If you add a marble, it makes the churning a little better.I'm glad you posted this. This might be a fun activity for my nieces and nephews to make at the beach. We always have such great food, homemade butter will be a nice touch!

ReplyDeleteDar - it definitely tastes different from the store bought kind. Much sweeter. I doubt, however, that's it's much better for you - pure fat!! Less salt though, so that's a plus. :)
That does look tasty! I think the kids would love making some butter! We are planning on making some ice cream this week, maybe we could make some butter too!
