When Life Gives You Bad Oranges...

{Or in this case, When the Grocery Store Stocks and Sells Dry, Bland Oranges...}

Make some potpourri!

This was such a fun and easy activity and James really enjoyed the whole process. Here's how we did it:

I cut the oranges into 1/4" slices, then we blotted them with a paper towel to remove any excess juice, and then James sprinkled cinnamon all over the slices. We placed them directly on the oven rack (I had removed it prior to heating the oven) and then baked them for about 1.5-2 hours at 225 degrees (smaller orange slices take less time, so watch them carefully).

The whole house smelled of orange cinnamon... mmmmm! James really wanted to eat these when they came out of the oven, and while I don't think any harm would come of it, I told him they were just for decoration. We added them to our nature display and they look just beautiful there!

  9. Wow, thank you for the great idea. I have never done anything like this, but we are also on the letter O, just started today, and this would be a great activity for the girls. I even think I have some oranges that will qualify. Thanks again.
