Fingerknitted Flowers

One thing I would love to have in my house is live plants or better yet, fresh flowers, but with two kitties it's just not an option. So, I had to improvise...

A bouquet of cat and kid friendly, all natural, homemade flowers. I found a video tutorial for these here. They were quick and easy to make - I simply fingerknitted the flowers and sewed them onto the branches from our wool tree.

James loves these happy little flowers and spends several minutes every couple of days rearranging them, always making sure they're all facing forward. :)

Just a couple of side notes:

::Big hugs and thanks for all of your Happy Birthday wishes to my newly 3 year old boy! We had such a wonderful weekend celebrating this very special occasion.

::Don't forget to enter my Mudpuppy Giveaway - the contest ends on tomorrow!

Jen - fingerknitting is SOOOO much easier than regular knitting! No needles invovled!

  10. How cheerful. I've always wondered what you do with finger knitted chains. I'll keep this in mind for when my oldest is old enough.

  16. Hello there!
I recently found your blog and thoroughly enjoy it! I'm wanting to make these flowers with my daughter, but I'm trying to figure out what kind of yarn you used for them. I got some thick Lion Brand Wool-Ease, but it looks TOO thick! Do you know the name brand of your yarn?
    Thanks for the inspiration!

  17. Hi Aria,

I used various bits of scrap yarn that I had on hand, so I'm afraid I don't know of exact brand names. Lion Brand is great for a project like this - wide variety of colors and very economical. I'd recommend you go with a medium weight yarn, though - it'll be easier for little fingers. :)

  20. I have two kitties and have a lot of house plants. My cats leave them alone so I know that if I made these flowers they would leave them alone as well. Thanks for sharing this great finger knitting idea.
