Personalized Guess Who? Game

I saw this fun idea on Mads Memories and knew it would be something James would enjoy. He's starting to get into games and, as I've mentioned before, I'm always trying to think of ways to keep him aware of our family since we live so far away from all of them.

We already had the Guess Who? game on hand and I have to admit it was getting a bit dusty. I think this is just the thing to renew some interest. And thankfully we have a large enough family for me to have pulled this project off (the people in the photo are just our immediate family... and 8 are missing!).

This wasn't as difficult to put together as some might think. Having already made our Family Nomenclature Cards, I had all of the images ready to go. I didn't even need to format them, I just chose the "fit to screen" and "contact sheet" option on my printer settings. I did need to spend some time in Picnik adding names to all the photos, and I had to cut out each individual photo, but it was all time well spent. I really think James will get a kick out of this.

I'm planning on keeping this as a surprise gift for him for when the baby arrives. :)

~Thank you for your comments!~

This is BRILLIANT! I teach Kindergarten and am envisioning a game like this with pictures of my students, and staff, in September to help them learn each others' faces and names! So neat.

I love this idea! Perfect for us, too, since we live far from our family. Now I just need to find a Guess Who game at a charity shop.

My sister did this one year for each set of cousins. It's a big hit! Have fun with it! Kori

That's such a nice idea for James to remember his relatives :) I live about 14 hours from family. I think my kids would love to have a game or games like this! Thanks for sharing this Mari-Ann

This is my first time to post a comment on your blog, but when I saw this I squealed! I saw this idea last week on another blog (can't remember which) and knew we had to make it for my husband's big Thanksgiving get together! Glad to know the contact sheet option works perfectly!!

I have thought about this too, but I was going to use clip art people. This is so much better. We don't have nearly as much family, but we have plenty of close friends.

I have always hated the game (even though it can be a great learning tool) because it is 3/4 men to 1/4 women and the hair and eye colors are skewed toward dark. I played with a kid I babysit and pulled 4 of the 5 women in the first 4 games.

I just wanted to know how you printed the pictures? On your home printer or through a photo printing company>?

@lady: I printed these off on our home computer.

Just saw this activity on arma dei site - using saints - google guess who catholic game... they give you the pictures to cut and attach - didn't get the idea until I saw your blog pic. Thanks. Great idea both ways!

That's such a great idea. Most of our family live far away and I recently discovered that my third oldest wan't able to recognise a photo of her grandmother, very sad.

Such a clever and creative idea! I loved this game when I was little and I love it even more with your twist. I think this will be a birthday gift for my son's 5th birthday coming up. :) I added a link back to your post here: http://mymontessorimoments.wordpress.com/2011/06/28/summer-bucket-list-2011/

This is a great idea as to how to renew a game's enjoyment. We have one of those kicking around, perhaps it should be renewed with family pictures. Great idea, thanks.
