You won't believe how easy it is to make homemade butter!! I saw this post over at Wee Waldorf and an hour later (after running to the grocery) we were making our own batch.
It's as easy as 1-2-3!!
Step 1: Buy heavy whipping cream
Step 3: Shake container for 20 minutes.
We had SO much fun with this step...
We had SO much fun with this step...
We went outside and tossed the container back and forth and up into the air. Tia called it "Extreme Buttermaking". :)
Yummmmmmy!!
We added some kosher salt to our butter, but I'm thinking cinnamon, honey or garlic would be delicious, too!
It was divine on the banana bread I made the night before.

Thanks for the project :) I will have my tot schoolers do this...what a fantastic idea. :)
We do this at Thanksgiving. If you add a marble, it makes the churning a little better.I'm glad you posted this. This might be a fun activity for my nieces and nephews to make at the beach. We always have such great food, homemade butter will be a nice touch!

I've been intending to do this with Finn since he loves butter so much. Homemade butter is so delicious!

Could it really be this simple? Love how you involve James in everything, he's such a lucky kid!
I'm really, really, really glad I decided to look at your original post because i have never visited that blog before and......... we probably live about 30 mins from each other. What a small blog world this is.
V cool. Does it taste different to the store-bought packaged kind? Probably better for you!
we'll have to try that, cool.
Wow!! What you don't do?????lol, Do you want to participate in something different???, I have a proposal to you on my blog.
Big Hugs,
Karen
Cool! and all of that shaking helps to burn off all of the calories you are going to consume later!
I'm so glad you are participating in the nature challenge and would love to be able to see your pics on your other blog (would be nice to see some outdoor shots with sun unlike ours!)
Thank you for your comments!
Dar - it definitely tastes different from the store bought kind. Much sweeter. I doubt, however, that's it's much better for you - pure fat!! Less salt though, so that's a plus. :)
That does look tasty! I think the kids would love making some butter! We are planning on making some ice cream this week, maybe we could make some butter too!
great post!
I will be linking. If you don't want to be featured please let me know.
Thanks.

HOW COOL IS THIS IDEA?! Seriously, that is amazing that you made your own butter to put on your own banana bread. I bet that tasted so delicious. Speaking of which...
Doesn't it feel so good to enjoy the things you make from hand? I swear, it is good for the soul to make things. :)
What a great idea! I had no idea it was so easy to make butter. We are going to do this today along with your felt rose. I am going to add some honey!
