June Sensory Tub - Dinosaurs

James and I had such fun putting this tub together. Since we really wanted to use water in it, we needed to make sure all of the other materials in the tub were water friendly. Not an easy thing to do, surprisingly!
Here's what's inside:
:: River pebbles (found in the home decor section of Brown & Co., a local department store)
:: Gemstones
:: Fake leaves (taken from one of the decorative plants in our house)
:: Dinosaurs
:: Mini trees
:: A ceramic dish with water
:: A blue plastic egg w/ another dino inside (seeing it hiding behind the leaves?) :)
:: Wooden beads

Wonderful site. I would like to add it to one I just started if you approve.
I have put together a daily blog intended to be used as an additional study tool for you and your child. History, math, science, vocabulary, and geography are given every day many with a link to the document to study. I also have researched sources that I hope may be helpful to you as an aide for your child. The site is actually very child friendly in terms of use.
I ask you to visit it and see what it has to offer. The first post “The Furniture of the Human Mind” will explain the site and hopefully you will look around.
Thank You

Wonderful sensory tub! I am really tempted to do this - Matthew loves playing with the "dino land" I made for him from fabric scraps... but I think having this tub in a corner of it somewhere would stir up a new interest. Now, just to find the time... ;)

I hope you and baby are doing well, Mari-Ann. I think it is such a good idea to pare back a bit right now until you find your "new normal" - love how you plan for these things, it's a good reminder to the rest of us!

Absolutely using this idea. We are making one for this month and will swap with my sis-in-law in July. Loving your ideas. Thank you for helping me break free and explore something new!

I had Dino Mega Toob in my classroom that I brought home for my 2 year old. I was going to make him a sensory box with beans, but now I think I will see if I can find those little rocks some where around here. He will love this.

Hi Mari-Ann, Just wanted to stop by and say thank you for the great sensory tub ideas. I took many of the ideas that you had for your dinosaur sensory tub and made my own. It turned out awesome and my 4 girls love it! I have just started a blog of my own, as a way to document our homeschool days and maybe try to connect more with other homeschool families. We are currently on a ex-pat assignment in Toronto, Canada (I am also from Minnesota!) and it is harder to find homeschooling families here. Anyway, I gave you credit for the sensory tub idea on my blog and linked it back to your blog page. Thanks again for the inspiration! Another Minnesota girl, Heather
